Learn to teach yoga to pregnant folks and post-partum bodies safely, and confidently. In this program you’ll be trained in the benefits of yoga for pregnancy and birth, safety guidelines for pregnant students, adapting postures for the various stages of pregnancy, and how to encourage the breath and muscoskeletal training that will support an empowered experience of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery.

This training will cover:

  • The three trimesters: overview of anatomical, physiological and hormonal changes for mother and child

  • Overview of stages of labor and birth

  • Postural alignment for pregnancy (optimal digestion, minimal back strain)

  • Pelvic floor toning during pregnancy and post-birth

  • Props for pregnancy

  • Restorative Yoga/Yin for pregnancy

  • Specific sequences for pregnancy

  • Yoga for fetal positioning

  • Breath and postural tools for labor

  • Yoga and active birth

  • Postnatal: supporting the first 6 weeks

  • Diastatis rectus, prevention and rehab

  • Specific sequences for postnatal

  • Restorative Yoga/Yin for new mothers

  • Baby and me yoga, how to sequence, include babies in postures, establish consistency

  • Support for partners, and non-birthing parents

  • Support for infertility, and loss

  • Inequalities in maternal healthcare, and how inclusion, access, and representation through prenatal and postnatal yoga can make a difference

This training is content-heavy, therefore lecture portions will be recorded, and all trainees will have access to recordings for a set period of time to allow for review. As with all our trainings, there will be ample time for each trainee to teach, and get feedback on their teaching. YSK trainings are designed to prepare you for working professionally, whether you choose to or not.

This curriculum is created by YSK owner/director Lora Ksieniewicz, who has been teaching yoga since 2006, focusing on yoga therapy since 2012. She holds a degree in Holistic Health, specializing in kinesiology, from UMass Amherst and is and E-RYT 500 with over 1200 training hours, including a specific certification in Prenatal and PostNatal Yoga. This training program is curated from the full range of her training and experience, as well as her own journey through pregnancy, both loss, and empowered pregnancy & labor. This program has been reviewed and approved by an OBGYN, an RN, and a midwife. This program series is led by YOTV Lead Instructor Shannon Larsen, who is a Yoga Therapist specializing in biomechanics, injury prevention, and Ayurveda.

There is no prerequisite training for this course, but this course does include pre-course work. Advanced registration is strongly suggested, allowing for ample time to complete pre-course work.

This training is designed for yoga teachers, midwives, doulas, MD's, OBGYNs, anyone wanting to offer Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga.

This program includes a robust amount of pre-coursework, so that in-person time is leveraged for maximum benefit in learning posture technique, teaching technique and adaptations.

50hr Prenatal Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training
$575.00

This training is designed for yoga teachers, OT's, nurses, PT's, MD's, school teachers, caregivers, social workers and anyone wanting to teach Chair Yoga.

There is no prerequisite training for this course.
